Viewing and finding art during COVID-19 has been a struggle. Whether it be for the museum or the viewer, it has become increasingly difficult to visit and see the things you enjoy. In some places, such as museums like The Huntington, strict rules are in place so that the community can enjoy pieces while still following regulations; however, it’s also important to acknowledge that this place specifically will take action if rules are not followed – you will be escorted off the premises, and possibly not even permit entry. On the other hand, there are also other places like the Broad and LACMA that are closed temporarily.
Fortunately for us artists, art can be done anywhere and anytime. We don’t need to always be looking at paintings or being out and about. We can be perfectly functional and productive at home! Whether it be painting, drawing, singing, making music, or just doodling on a napkin, art is everywhere and there is beauty in all things. We don’t need these places to find art!
But, nonetheless, where else can you find a painting that’s 700 years old besides in an art museum?
As for these intricate places, following guidelines is the best – and only – way to go about possibly seeing your favorite exhibits in the future. Unfortunately for us, most indoor areas are closed (and rightfully so), but you can still find many interesting pieces online! You can google search time period pieces, research older or newer/contemporary artists, or even visit your favorite museum’s website where, in some cases, you can even take a virtual tour! You have the world at your fingertips: all you need to do is open a new tab, and get looking!
