Burnout is when we overwork ourselves to the point of physical and or mental exhaustion. It’s something that most people go through and is often a confusing and lonely experience. For artists especially, it’s truthfully very scary and overwhelming.
Personally, I have gone through burnout both with school and art; it was very tough to continue working while simultaneously trying to recover. Therefore, one of the biggest messages I tried to show through this journal spread was to take a break, unplug, and step away from life’s stressors. It can be so easy to immerse oneself in a flurry of extracurriculars and classwork; it’s so hard to stop—even when the breaking point nears. With this in mind, I wanted to remind you, whoever is reading this, that every person is stronger, smarter, and braver than they may feel. Even when everything feels hopeless, I promise that it will get better.
