Spat on, beaten, and in too many cases, slaughtered solely based on who we love and who we are. The LGBTQ+ community has not been treated fairly for a very long time; especially queer people of color. In a study used by the New York Times, it states that the LGBTQ+ community is more likely to be targets of hate crimes than any other minority group. Black, transgender women being the most targeted.
It’s very frightening and disappointing to see this behavior still happening TODAY in 2020. Please teach your children to love all and respect everyone no matter their identity. I know this one is late for pride month, but after the events of mid 2020, we are NEVER going back to normal.
