Strange Land is a song by singer-songwriters Phum Viphurit and Niki. Although the song is about romantic love, the lyrics remind me of the friendships that will forever last in a moment. It creates a picture of you and your friends having a picnic and laughing off all your worries. Suddenly, you wish this feeling could last forever—just you and your friends being kids.
If something is meant to last, it will; if it doesn’t, the little moments mean the most. If things are meant to be short, you can’t go on wishing that they would last forever. It’s in the beauty of the fleeting that makes it memorable.
Zoom meetings with my best friends represent both a negative and positive side to this—the beauty and gratuity to be able to meet with my friends in this way, but also the negative side of having only short moments to hold on to and protect.
