POUND POUND

I place the final wooden slab for my overhanging roof. Admiring my work, I sit back and exhale the breath I was apparently holding in. My parrot Zuro lands by my side, cocking his head he gives me a pleased chirp.

“Looks pretty good huh?” With a deep breath, I let myself relax and watch the fishes in my small lake swim playfully with each other, the wild parrots waking up as the morning sun rises and casts its rays on their trees, the dessert village just over the hill busy and bustling as the merchants start opening up their market stations. The cool air from the west blowing in gently, bringing in fresh air as a new day begins.

After weeks and weeks of gathering the resources day and night, mining into the mountain tirelessly, and managing to kill off any mobs threatening to slow down my progress, my home is finally done.

With this month’s prompt, Escapism, the first thing that came to mind was Minecraft! How could I not do it? During quarantine, between binging tv shows and drawing, I found myself playing Minecraft whenever I could. Growing up and playing with friends after I finished homework every night, I can still say this game holds a special place in my heart. I always enjoyed immersing myself within the game and building whatever I thought of, which fueled my interest in architecture and interior design. This game is so addicting, I can admit I’ve spent one too many nights awake at 3am playing in my bed haha.
